You can save big bucks on your grocery bills with some expert tips on the best way to use price-saving coupons. "I've found families can often cut their grocery bills by hundreds or n thousands of dollars a year by just following some easy steps," says Susan Samtur, author of "The Super Coupon Shopping System."

Susan's so good at using coupons, she once took $144 worth of groceries to the checkout line and didn't have to pay a dime for them. What's more, the store ended up owing her $1.87!

The super-smart shopper lectures on how to cut supermarket bills by up to 70 percent using coupons. First and foremost, she advises that you religiously collect and organize them.

"On Sunday I go through the paper and clip out all the coupons," said Susan. "I use an accordion-style file and sort them in categories like baking goods, cereals, health and beauty aids and so on. Within the categories I file the coupons by brand name."

With that done, Susan advises that you check out sale ads for several supermarkets. Then shop at the stores which have the best prices on your coupon items.

You'll also find that some stores offer double value for your coupons.

For the best buys, use your coupons to buy small product sizes when they're on sale.

"For instance, I had a 49-cent coupon for an eight-ounce size of salad dressing on sale for 50 cents," said Susan. "The dressing cost me a penny."

To get the full value of all your coupons, don't become to one brand, Susan recommends.

While shopping, look for products with coupons on the package offering a discount or some other product like free apples if you buy a box of cinnamon apple Cheerios.

Also check out items that offer coupons to get you a $1 or $2 refund through the mail.

"In any given month, I get about $80 back from manufacturers" says Susan.

"Plus, your name goes on mailing lists and you receive more coupons."
